Coming up with a “good name” can often be a frustrating block that keeps you from moving forward on projects that are otherwise good to go. I myself have had a love-hate relationship with naming because you can’t always count on “creativity” showing up on demand.
In this masterclass I’ll share my process for creating brandable names.
Specifically you’ll learn:
- The 5 methods of naming so you can create multiple options instead of settling for the “first name that comes to you.”
- What makes a good name and a few simple questions to use for auditing names.
- How adding context can be the key to making a name work.
- Why naming can be a lot like putting together a delicious trailmix (and how to brainstorm your components.)
Below you will find exercises for naming different things in your business, you’ll find that some of the questions follow along with the Trailblazing Trifecta – this is to help give you a starting point for brainstorming as well as ensure that what you create is truly a representation of your brand.
It’s worth noting that in the case of naming your business, if you’re a solopreneur that is selling your expertise (like a coach, consultant, spiritual entrepreneur, speaker etc.) then it’s usually good to start with building your personal brand and using your own name as your business name, and then sub-brand your products. Unless of course your name is difficult to spell, remember, or pronounce in which case I’d recommend creating a business name.
This allows you flexibility when expanding your direction later and doesn’t tie you into a name that means only one thing. Also, each time you add a new offer your personal brand, if it’s already recognized, will lend credibility to the new offer.
