New subscribers are great, but if they are like many people once they subscribe they may or may not actually download your freebie let alone remember who you are a week from now. The first two weeks after someone subscribes is critical in your sales process, you need to show them that they belong and how beneficial it will be for them to stay connected (and of course, buy your stuff).
